The track for today is another one from The First Men in the Moon, adapted by and starring the wonderful Mark Gatiss.
The cue is called Daybreak, and (as the name suggests) is the first time Bedford and Cavor see the sun rise over the moon from their spacecraft. It starts with a major key version of the main theme on solo piano, then broadens out with the glassy moon sounds familiar from the rest of the score. There’s then a moment of action as Bedford decides to go outside their ship, but they’re unsure of the atmosphere. As they explore they realise they can breathe the air, and are struck by the beauty of the scene.
